Fod House, the first original part of the conference centre building, was gifted to Fife by the McCrone family and used as a centre for nurse training. Subsequently it was used as a centre for the in-service training of primary and secondary teachers and at the same time, in part by Lauder College (now Carnegie College) as classroom accommodation. In 1991 the Regional Education Authority gave the whole property over to Lauder College for further education and training. The college council then prepared a development plan to improve and extend the accommodation to include 35 single study bedrooms, further syndicate rooms and a new suite to include bar and restaurant facilities. ![]() On Wednesday 14th October 1998, Lord McDonald formally opened the facility as the “Business Learning Centre,” a dedicated training and conference facility which would serve the demanding requirements of the business community. Ten years later, Carnegie Conference Centre is still providing an excellent service to many of its initial customers which is testimony to the hard work and professionalism of its dedicated workforce.
