 Hospitality Assured is The Standard for Service and Business Excellence in the hospitality industry and has been endorsed by the British Quality Foundation and Quality Scotland Foundation as meeting the criteria in the EFQM Business Excellence Model. As part of our quality improvement strategy, the blcc (now trading as Carnegie Conference Centre) started the process of implementing the Hospitality Assured standard. We were accepted as part of a pilot project supported by Scottish Enterprise that involved workshops and mentoring support. Joyce Gordon, Conference Manager, led on this initiative with representatives from all parts of the conference business; marketing, events, kitchen, restaurant, portering and reception. The Pilot Project Mentors followed a coaching, rather than a directing, route with each business; their rationale was to fit the process to each individual organisation. Self assessment sessions on the 10 key steps proved to be an invaluable part of the process and was undertaken involving as many people within the organisation as possible. Each company group workshop was followed up with a wider team session at our premises and innovation, creativity, ideas generation and an action plan all came out of the sessions. We undertook our accreditation assessment for the standard on the 22nd and 23rd January 2007 and were successful in being awarded full accreditation to the Hospitality Assured standard. As a Hospitality Assured Venue we are proud to be viewed as one of the very best organisations in the hospitality industry by our customers, employees, stakeholders and competitors. |
